Welcome

The Weaving Ties initiative was born in 2015, during the Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris, with the objective of strengthening alliances, raising demands and increasing capacities in representative organizations of indigenous peoples and local communities of tropical forests

We work with the organizations that make up the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC), a coalition of indigenous organizations and forest communities from the Amazon Basin, Brazil, Mesoamerica, Central Africa and Indonesia, which advocates for the respect of human rights and territorial rights of the peoples it represents

The promotion of land titling and community governance is vital to achieving the global objectives of reducing emissions, adapting to climate change and protecting biodiversity. We believe that by strengthening the territorial organizations that defend their rights we are contributing to improve the impact of their actions and therefore to the mitigation of climate change and social injustices

The Weaving Ties initiative has organized numerous territorial exchanges, campaigns and learning activities in the main tropical forest regions of the world, supporting alliances between peoples and organizations, improving their governance and making their messages visible

Contributing to the development of capacities of the peoples and communities of the tropical forests of the world, in the defense of their rights
