ELJ2019 Indigenous youth from local communities in Latin America joined together in Gunayala territory, Panama, July 5-8, 2019, to exchange and strengthen our territorial struggles.
The «Latin American Youth Encounter: Identity, Climate and Territory» was a space for reflection in which we asked ourselves who am I, who are we, and what do we want to contribute to territorial claims? We are the result of our cultures, communities, our forests, and with this strengthened identity we look forward to demanding our rights.
The #EJL2019 was a joint effort of the Mesoamerican School of Leadership, the Tejiendo Lazos project, the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests and Onmagged Dummad Gunayala.
Delegates from the organizations participated in the meeting: Onmagged Dummad Guanayala and Emberá General Congress of Panama; YATAMA of Nicaragua; RIBCA of Costa Rica; Mocal Network of Mexico; National Alliance of Community Forestry Organizations and Association of Forest Communities of Petén of Guatemala; MASTA of Honduras and COICA Amazonia.
