Indigenous and territorial organizations from tropical forests meet in Frankfurt

The so called #GuardiansOftheForest Alliance, also known as the Global Territorial Communities Alliance met in Frankfurt, Germany on November 30th, 2018. The aim was to reflect on the Alliance’s self governance, evaluate past campaigns and jointly plan future actions.

This meeting is significant since political leaders from AMPB, COICA and APIB (Unfortunately AMAN could not attend) had the occasion to largely discuss about the past, present and future of the Alliance.

The meeting, facilitated by Weaving Ties, was hosted behind closed doors at Climate Alliance’s headquarters in Frankfurt. It took place a day after the Weilburg Conference on social inclusion in REDD processes, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of Germany (BMZ), and the Cooperative Fund for Carbon of the Forests (FCPF).

This meeting is a step forward in the consolidation process of the Global Territorial Communities Alliance, and results from last years’ rapprochement among the indigenous and forest organizations that form the Alliance.
